Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof attended the closing ceremony of the three-day recreational camping programme at the Sungai Mau Recreational Park yesterday.
The programme, held for the first time by the Village Consultative Council of Kampong Sungai Mau in collaboration with the Belait District Office, provided an opportunity for visitors to camp, explore and enjoy the scenic wonders in the village.
Programme chairman, Legislative Council (LegCo) member Yang Berhormat Mohammad bin Abdullah @ Lim Swee Ann in his closing remarks said the programme held since November 29, saw several activities.
“Several activities were held including the gulintangan competition, fun sports day and cultural performances by Selendang Sutera Brunei Darussalam to enliven the programme.”
Various government agencies and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) also set up exhibition booths for visitors to learn more about the roles and functions of the agencies and groups.
The minister also presented certificates of appreciation to representatives of government agencies and NGOs. The minister also received a token of appreciation from the LegCo member.
The event continued with a woodwind instrument performance by uniformed personnel from the Prisons Department.
