Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad attended a Tedarus Al-Quran ceremony at RPN Kampong Pandan Mosque in observance of Ramadhan on Tuesday.
The programme started with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Mosque Affairs Officer at RPN Kampong Pandan Mosque Abdul Qayyum bin Haji Aminnuddin, followed by the recitation of Al-Quran by the minister and attendees, comprising the Permanent Secretary (Youth) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) Haji Zakaria bin Haji Serudin, heads of departments, senior officers and staff members under the MCYS from across Belait District.
The Mosque Affairs Officer at RPN Kampong Pandan Mosque led the recitation of Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam.
The ceremony concluded with the breaking of the fast and mass Maghrib prayer.
The event was organised by the Language and Literature Bureau (DBP), Community Development Department (JAPEM) in collaboration with the Mosque takmir committee at the RPN Kampong Pandan Mosque.
The event was aimed at fostering spiritual reflection and strengthening religious ties among MCYS officers and staff during the holy month of Ramadhan. – Daniel Lim

Ministry of Religious Affairs
A delegation from the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) held a Tedarus ceremony recently at the Kampong Telisai Mosque, Tutong. Permanent Secretary at the MoRA Haji Mohammad Rosli bin Haji Ibrahim was the guest of honour.
Acting Deputy Secretary Permanent (Administration and Finance) Misle bin Haji Abdul Karim, and Acting Deputy Secretary (Policy and Religion) at the MoRA Haji Shamshol bin Haji Omar were also present.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the guest of honour, followed by the Tadabbur Al-Quran by imam of Kampong Telisai Mosque Abdul Hadi bin Haji Abdul Rahman.
The Tedarus ceremony saw the recitation of Tahlil and doa by Hazwan Hamizan bin Haji Haminuddin from the Kampong Telisai Mosque and concluded with Doa Allah Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam by Mosque Affairs Officer Saipol bin Ismail. The MoRA Tedarus delegation and staff will also visit the Zainab Mosque, Lumut in the Belait District. – Lyna Mohamad

Ministry of Education
The Ministry of Education (MoE) held a Surah Yaasiin and Tahlil ceremony at the Royal Brunei Mausoleum in Jalan Tutong.
The ceremony was for Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam and Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Bendahara Pengiran Anak Abdul Rahman, the late parents of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, and for His Majesty’s late son Al-Marhum His Royal Highness Prince Haji ‘Abdul ‘Azim.
Leading the ceremony was Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at MoE Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad. Deputy Permanent Secretary (Core Education) Aliuddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, vice-chancellors, senior officials, officers and staff from the MoE were also present.
The event serves to enliven the month of Ramadhan and seek blessings from Allah the Almighty. – Lyna Mohamad

Islamic Da’wah Unit
Superintendent Dakwah and Tabligh, Islamic Dakwah Unit (PDI) Pengiran Hajah Haslina Suriani binti Pengiran Haji Piut led a delegation from PDI and Tutong Dakwah Unit officers and staff in the series of Tedarus Al-Quran with Converts programme organised by PDI through the Tutong Dakwah Unit.
It began with the mass recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Assistant Religious Development Officer Muhammad Salihan bin Samra followed with Tedarus Al-Quran by imam of Kampong Bukit Mosque, Mukim Ukong in Tutong District while Doa Selepas Membaca Al-Quran and Doa Peliharakan Sultan Dan Negara Brunei Darussalam was read by Assistant Religious Officer Shahirul Syafiq bin Rashid.
Pengiran Hajah Haslina Suriani also presented PDI publications for the use of the mosque.
The ceremony concluded with mass Maghrib and Isyak as well as Sunnat Terawih and Sunnat Witir. – Lyna Mohamad
Bandar Seri Begawan Arab Preparatory School
The Bandar Seri Begawan Arab Preparatory School hosted an Iftar Ramadhan programme for its students at Tokyo Hall, The Airport Mall, Berakas on Tuesday evening.
The event commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, Tahlil and Doa Arwah led by Mohd Bahauddin bin Haji Abu Bakar, a teacher from the school.
This was followed by the recitation of Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam by Haji Zulkhairi bin Haji Brahim. As part of the programme, 50 students including hostel residents and those in need, received gifts presented by the school’s principal, Pengiran Hasinol Zamri bin Pengiran Haji Piut.
Following the breaking of fast, the gathering continued with Maghrib prayer in congregation led by Ali Khairul Faiz bin Haji Ali Amat @ Haji Ramle. The Iftar Ramadhan initiative is a charitable effort by the school’s teachers, aimed at assisting students in need while preparing for Hari Raya Aidilfitri. – Fadley Faisal
