    His Majesty tours military airbase

    His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa‘adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday visited the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Base and Robertson Barracks in Darwin, Australia.

    Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen.

    Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Administrator of the Northern Territory Professor Hugh Heggie; representative of the Chief Minister of the Northern Territory Ruth Jones; and Larrakia Elder Dr Richard Fejo.

    His Majesty had a meeting with the Northern Territory Administrator before embarking on a RAAF C-27J Spartan aircraft and later boarded a toll helicopter for a tour of Darwin.

    His Majesty landed at the Robertson Barracks, where His Majesty was greeted upon arrival by Commander of the 1st Brigade Brigadier Nick Foxall who briefed on the Eurocopter Tiger Helicopter.

    His Majesty also viewed a static display of military equipment and systems and interacted with Royal Australian Army members.

    The RAAF Base in Darwin is a forward-operating base and plays a crucial support role for major exercises held in the Northern Territory. Meanwhile, Robertson Barracks is the Royal Australian Army’s major establishment in the Northern Territory and home to the 1st Brigade and 1st Aviation Regiment.
