His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam is scheduled to hold a state visit to Peru on November 12 and 13, which will mark His Majesty’s first state visit to the country.
While in Lima, Peru, His Majesty will hold a meeting with Peru President Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra to reaffirm bilateral relations and further emphasise cooperation in areas of mutual benefit to both countries. Brunei Darussalam and Peru established diplomatic relations since June 1, 1990.
Following the visit, His Majesty will participate in the 31st Asia-Pacific Economic Leaders’ Meeting (AELM) on November 15 and 16 in Lima, with Peru as the host Economy, under the leadership of the Peru president.
With the theme ‘Empower. Include. Grow’, APEC 2024 aims to foster greater economic and technical collaboration among the member economies of APEC. Key priorities for the meeting include promoting inclusive and interconnected growth through trade and investment; advancing innovation and digitalisation to promote the transition to the formal and global economy; and ensuring sustainable growth for resilient development.
Peru previously chaired APEC in 2008 and 2016.
