Around 75 students from the ‘Aliyah Qiraat Higher Diploma (Years 1 and 2) at the Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah took part in a two-day motivation and Islamic leadership programme. The event, organised by the Da’ie Youth Volunteer Body and supported by the Youth Religious Programme Secretariat at the Islamic Da’wah Centre, concluded with a closing ceremony at the institute.
Themed ‘The Culture of Jahiliyyah in the Digital Era: Are We Returning to the Past?’, the programme featured a thought-provoking session by speaker Hurul-Ain Diyana binti Haji Abdul Majid, who is also a committee member of the Da’ie Youth Volunteer Body. Students participated in discussions, workshops and presentations led by facilitators from the Da’ie Youth Volunteer Body.
The event ended with a video presentation and the da’ie open mic session. Certificates and prizes were presented by guest of honour Acting Principal Mohammad Ali Sabri bin Haji Yusof.
The programme aimed to strengthen the role of da’ie youth as responsible advocates for dakwah and Amr bil ma’ruf wa nahy anil munkar, especially among higher education students in Brunei. It also sought to instil a sense of responsibility, dedication and the spirit of service, encouraging students to embody leadership qualities rooted in the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). Through such initiatives, the programme aims to build confidence and leadership skills, empowering students to become exemplary figures in the community. – Fadley Faisal
