His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam on Thursday afternoon received in audience the Secretary-General of ASEAN Dr Kao Kim Hourn, who is on a two-day working visit to Brunei Darussalam.
During the Audience Ceremony, His Majesty reiterated Brunei’s steadfast commitment to advancing regional cooperation through ASEAN. His Majesty and Dr Kao also underscored the important role of the ASEAN Secretariat in supporting ASEAN Member States in their Community building efforts towards ensuring regional peace and prosperity.
Brunei Darussalam will celebrate its 40th Anniversary as a member of ASEAN this year.
Brunei is one of ten ASEAN member states, which include the Kingdom of Cambodia, Republic of Indonesia, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Republic of the Union of Myanmar, the Republic of the Philippines, the Republic of Singapore, the Kingdom of Thailand, and the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.
Also present at the Audience Ceremony was Second Minister of Foreign Affairs Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof.
The Audience Ceremony took place at Istana Nurul Iman.
