Young leaders convene with focus on Brunei’s future

Some 150 youth leaders and professionals aged 15 to 45 participated in the 5th Brunei Young Leaders Convention (BYLC) 2024 at Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali yesterday.

The three-day event aims to explore innovative ways to contribute to Brunei Vision 2035 towards a prosperous and dynamic society.

The event commenced with a welcoming speech and the recitation of Doa, followed by a Youth Snapshot: Inspirational Youth session, showcasing the journeys and achievements of young leaders in Brunei, moderated by Haji Mohammad Loqman Al-Hakim bin Haji Hamdan.

Participants had the opportunity to network and engage in a breakout session, focusing on identifying key issues and conducting SWOT analysis to develop actionable strategies.

They were also briefed by the Wawasan Brunei Secretariat, discussing the nation’s goals of fostering educated, highly-skilled and accomplished individuals.

Mohammad Ashmeer Imtiaz Ahmad, Ahmed Faez bin Anuar, Fatin Afiqah binti Md Asrul Saniy and Rayyan Sufian were the mentors.

Meanwhile, the afternoon session began with the first of three forums, themed ‘Educated, Highly Skilled and Accomplished People’, a core pillar of the national vision, moderated by Asia Pacific Young Women Ambassador and the Commissioner of Girl Guides Association of Brunei Darussalam Nurul Wafaa’ binti Awang Mohammad.

Pengiran Salimatul Sa’ada binti Pengiran Mohd Saleh, head of the Counselling Division at the Ministry of Education Haji Ali Yusri bin Haji Abdul Ghafor and co-leader of Rethink Mental Health project Nadia Syahirah binti Haji Aji were the mentors at the forum. – Lyna Mohamad
