His Majesty leaves Thailand after APEC meet

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam left Bangkok, Thailand yesterday after attending the 2022 APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting (AELM).

Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen.

Prior to departure, a Doa Selamat was recited by State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned.

Present at the Don Mueang Air Terminal to bid farewell to His Majesty was Thai Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan.

Also present to bid farewell to His Majesty was Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to Thailand Pengiran Haji Sahari bin Pengiran Haji Salleh.

His Majesty also attended the royal audience with Their Majesties the King of Thailand and the Queen at Chakri Maha Prasat Throne Hall, Bangkok.

At the AELM, the APEC Economic Leaders released two outcome documents: the APEC Economic Leaders’ Declaration which highlighted APEC’s work throughout 2022 during Thailand’s chairmanship, including efforts on advancing the Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific (FTAAP), safe passage, women’s economic empowerment and sustainability through Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy model; and the Bangkok Goals on Bio-Circular-Green Economy which seeks to affirm APEC Leaders’ commitment to continue advancing its sustainability objectives in a bold, responsive, and comprehensive manner to address the heightened economic and environmental challenges and disruptions facing the region, while reinforcing and contributing to ongoing global actions.

United States will be the APEC Chair in 2023 and carries the theme ‘Creating a Resilient and Sustainable Future for All’.
