His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam graced the National Level Nuzul Al-Quran Celebration for 1445 Hijrah at the International Convention Centre in Berakas last night.
Accompanying His Majesty were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik, His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen, His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah and His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah.
Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Chief of Adat Istiadat Negara Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris bin Pengiran Maharaja Lela Pengiran Muda Abdul Kahar in his capacity as the Co-Advisor of the Executive Committee for Major Islamic Calendar Events for 1445 Hijrah; Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman in his capacity as the Chairman of the Executive Committee for Major Islamic Calendar Events for 1445 Hijrah; Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar; Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid, as the Chairman of the Royal Brunei Airlines Board of Directors; and Minister of Education Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh.
The National Level Nuzul Al-Quran Celebration for 1445 Hijrah commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah by State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned. This was followed by an opening address by Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin.
The ceremony continued with a titah by His Majesty.
This was followed by the results announcement of the National Level Al-Quran Memorisation and its Understanding Competition for 1445 Hijrah delivered by Acting Deputy Director of Haj Affairs Department Pengiran Haji Haslin bin Pengiran Haji Ali, as the Chairman of the Judging Committee.
The first prize winner in Category ‘A’ was Nur Soffiyyah Solehah binti Mohammad Fikri with a score of 98.55 per cent, who received a prize of BND1,500. In second place winning BND1,000 was Nur Syifa Hasanah binti Mohammad Fikri (98.53 per cent) while Alya Sofiyyah binti Abdul ‘Azim (95.68 per cent) received BND750 in third place.
Alya Fathiyyah binti Haji Abdul Rajid topped Category ‘B’ with a score of 97.95 per cent and received BND2,000. Nuramal Shofiyyah binti Irma Syukrin (95.72 per cent) and Ainaa Zunah Insyirah binti Haji Abdul Manap (94.3 per cent) claimed second and third places, and received BND1,500 and BND1,200.
In Category ‘C’, the first place went to Abdul Rasyid bin Haji Mohammad Norazmi (96.71 per cent), who received BND2,800. The first and second runners-up were Mohammad Ahmed Maahee bin Haji Samry (96.28 per cent) receiving BND2,000 and Siti Nur Aqilah binti Haji Jahari (95.57 per cent) receiving BND1,500.
In Category ‘D’, Ahmad Huzaifah bin Haji Awang Hasbi emerged as the winner with a score of 96.62 per cent. He received BND3,500.
Second place went to Dk Nurfaiezah binti Pengiran Haji Kamaluddin (94.68 per cent), who received BND2,500, while Siti Nurul Syafiqah Shahirah binti Haji Sufri@Suhaili (89.6 per cent) won BND2,000 in third place.
Mohammad Fikri bin Haji Sharbini was adjudged the overall winner in Category ‘E’ with a score of 98.75 per cent and received BND5,000.
In second place was Muhammad Adi Syazani @ Muhammad Izz Raziq bin Shahri (98.4 per cent) who walked away with BND3,500 while in third place was Dayangku Nurol Hafizah binti Pengiran Haji Tejudin (97.74 per cent) receiving BND2,500.
Prizes and souvenirs were presented by His Majesty. The celebration was enlivened with recitations by the winners from each category of the National Level Al-Quran Memorisation and its Understanding Competition for 1445 Hijrah.
The theme for this year’s event was ‘Al-Quran Pedomanku’.
The event was co-organised by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education, Royal Brunei Airlines and the MABIMS Centre for Al-Quran Studies and Dissemination. – Adib Noor
