His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, yesterday attended the state funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, held at Westminster Abbey in London.
Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen.
The state funeral was also attended by members of royal families; heads of state and guests from across the world.
Prior to the state funeral, the coffin of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was borne in a procession on the state gun carriage of the Royal Navy from the Palace of Westminster to Westminster Abbey, accompanied by His Majesty King Charles III as well as a cortege by members of the British Royal Family and the King’s Household.
This was followed by the state funeral service.
At the end of the state funeral, The Last Post was played followed with a two-minute silence in Westminster Abbey and throughout the United Kingdom realm. The state funeral ended with the country’s national anthem.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was then laid to rest at St George’s Chapel in Windsor.
His Majesty had consented for the national flag to be flown at half-mast at government buildings and offices of Brunei Darussalam’s missions overseas as a mark of respect for the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II passed away at the age of 96. Her reign as the queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland lasted more than 70 years.
