The Guide for Parents and Caregivers on Childhood Cancer was officially launched by the Children Matters Group yesterday at the Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre (PJSC).
Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar officiated the launch of the book.
Head of Children Matters Group Dina Roslina binti Haji Aliuddin shared that the guide aims to increase public awareness of the challenges faced by children with cancer as well as provide guidance to parents and caregivers to support the children’s well-being.
The guide also hoped to foster a better support system for young patients fighting cancer, as well as their families and caregivers.
It also sought to address the stigma and isolation faced by children with cancer and their families by improving social connections and mental health.
The Children Matters Group comprised participants of the 35th Executive Development Programme for Middle Management Officers (EDPMMO-35), the Children’s Cancer Foundation (YASKA), the PJSC and the Ministry of Education. – Adib Noor
