Grassroots football players must be polished

Potential grassroots football players must be nurtured and guided to develop into top-caliber athletes, said Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (FABD) Deputy President Haji Mahrub bin Haji Murni.

He made these remarks at the launch of a football program in conjunction with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Regional Grassroots Football Day 2024, held at Sultan Hashim Batu Apoi Primary School Field in Temburong on Friday.

“They are seen as valuable players who will be key to our team’s future success, and persistent support from all parties is necessary to maintain their interest in football,” the Deputy President emphasised.

Organised by FABD in collaboration with the Temburong Amateur Football Association (TAFA), the event attracted over 60 young participants aged under 10 and under 12. The participants engaged in a football training phase and were introduced to game techniques.

At the end of the session, Sultan Hashim Batu Apoi Primary School Headmaster Limawati binti Galawat presented prizes to the participants of the ball juggling event. The program was also attended by TAFA President Haji Miramit bin Haji Damit and FABD Executive Committee Members. – FADHIL YUNUS
