Golf tourney raises support for special needs centre

A charity golf tournament was held yesterday at the Pantai Mentiri Golf Club in Kampong Mentiri yesterday with proceeds going to Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam to support special needs individuals as well as help with the centre’s monthly expenses and development plans.

Some 173 golfers joined the 23rd Pusat Ehsan Charity Golf Tournament (PECGT) where they battled for top honours as well as novelty prizes such as nearest to the pin, hole-in-one and bull’s eye prizes.

Dato Haji Harith bin Haji Abdul Karim emerged winner after carding a score of two-over-par 74.

The newly-crowned winner collected the coveted Patron’s Challenge Trophy after defeating his nearest rival Moksin Jinaidi, who carded a 76 by two shots.

He joined a group of golfers that have tasted the major silverware, including past winners Seruji bin Haji Setia and Suhaimi bin Haji Ibrahim. Tony Haji Karim settled for third place after posting a score of 77 (On Count Back) at the expense of former winner Suhaimi.
