Local communities and organisations continue to glorify Al-Quran as the holy month of Ramadhan draws to an end.
Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) recently held a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony with the local community at Surau Kampong Piasau-Piasau in the Temburong District.
Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid as the RB Chairman was present at the event, with Deputy Minister (Civil Service Governance) at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Paduka Mohd Riza bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yunos as RB Deputy Chairman; Chief Executive Officer of RB Captain Sabirin Haji Abdul Hamid and the RB Board of Directors.
Also present was Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Haji Sulaiman bin Haji Nasir.
Around 38 RB staff participated in the Khatam Al-Quran. After the ceremony, the RB chairman presented waqaf to the surau.
Yesterday, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) held a Khatam Al-Quran for youth at Ar-Rahim Mosque in Kampong Bukit Panggal, Tutong District.
Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Abdul Aziz bin Haji Hamdan was the guest of honour.
Also present were permanent secretaries and deputy permanent secretaries at the MCYS, as well as Acting Tutong District Officer Mohammad Sofian bin Haji Basri.
The Khatam Al-Quran Belia, an annual event organised by the Youth and Sports Department, aimed to encourage the involvement of youth in religious activities.
The event, held in conjunction with the holy month of Ramadhan, involved district branches, government agencies as well as youth movements and associations.
Meanwhile, the Brunei Religious Officers Student Association (BruROSA) in the United Kingdom (UK) and Ireland recently hosted a Khatam Al-Quran in conjunction with
Nuzul Al-Quran celebration.
The event was held in collaboration with the Brunei Students’ Society Cardiff, Bruneian Students in Ireland and Brunei Hall Students’ Committee. Various student societies in the UK also joined virtually.
Brunei Darussalam High Commissioner to the UK and Northern Ireland First Admiral (Rtd) Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Norazmi bin Pengiran Haji Muhammad was the guest of honour. – James Kon
