Some 136 orphans in Temburong District received donations during a donation presentation ceremony at the Belalong Hall of the Mukim Bangar Community Hall Complex yesterday.
Acting Temburong District Officer Hassan Baha bin Haji Umar, the guest of honour, presented the donations.
The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Tahlil, Doa Arwah and Doa Selamat, led by imam of Kampong Belais Mosque Mohd Safwan bin Zolkipli.
The recipients also received separate donations from private donors. The donations were collected from the Temburong District Orphans Fund, the National Orphans Fund, Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD), private individuals and companies.
Acting Assistant District Officer Nur Adlina binti Haji Azman, who is the chair of the ceremony was also present.
Meanwhile in the Belait District, 498 orphans received donations in a ceremony at Pusat Insani, Seria. Acting Belait District Officer Haji Amirol Hafidzin bin Haji Muhammad handed over the donations with Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP) Managing Director Johan Atema and Human Resources Director Erwienna Shafienaz binti Abu Bakar.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, led by Mosque Affairs Officer of the Pekan Seria Mosque Mohammad Nawawi bin Bakhari.
The ceremony saw several representatives, including Belait District Tiong Hua Association, Sullivans (B) Sdn Bhd, Asia Enterprise, Pustaka Remaja Sdn Bhd, Syarikat Teras Maju Bookstore Sdn Bhd, Tai Poo Community Association Brunei and Hainan Association, hand over BND5,800 to the orphans fund, which the acting Belait District officer received.
The event continued with the acting Belait District officer handing out donations collected from the National Orphans Fund, Belait District Orphans Fund and BIBD. Meanwhile, the BSP managing director and human resources director also handed out donations to the recipients contributed by BSP, while the Syarikat Suasana Mentari Engineering Services, represented by its General Manager Yusof bin Haji Othman, also participated.
A similar event was held in the Tutong District where 510 orphans received donations at the Seri Kenangan Hall of Tutong Community Complex.
The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Al-Quran by student of Tutong Kem Religious School Nur Damia Faqihah binti Mohamad Aji, followed by its interpretation by Tutong Kem Religious School teacher Hajah Noorlaila binti Haji Metussin.
Following the presentation of donation, three orphans who achieved excellent academic results in Religious Primary Schools Education Certificate (SSSRU) for 2024, with another two students who achieved excellent academic results in ‘A’ Level, ‘O’ Level/IGCSE for 2024 receiving prizes for their achievements.
