Fun days at village festival

Acting Tutong District Officer Muhammad Sofian bin Haji Basri launched the inaugural three-day Kampong Ukong Festival on its second day on Saturday.

The festival, organised by the Kampong Ukong Village Consultative Council, featured several activities including sports, exhibition, cultural performances and stalls selling products and services. There were also Doa Kesyukuran, mass prayers, recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Al-Quran memorisation.

The festival was aimed at enhancing harmony, encouraging cooperation and strengthening ties among residents as well as supporting domestic tourism Kenali Negara Kitani programme.

The opening ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah by Zulmiefaizal bin Abdullah followed by a speech from Kampong Ukong Village Head and co-chairperson of the organising committee Md Hakimi bin Abdullah Gampar. – Lyna Mohamad
