Four nabbed in immigration raid

Four foreign workers were nabbed for various immigration offences by authorities during recent enforcement operations.

An inspection of a roof repair project in Mukim Belait saw two of four foreign workers arrested after they were found to be working with an employer other than their original employer.

Another person was believed to have committed an immigration offence by hiring without the knowledge of the original employer.

Meanwhile, at a housing area in Mukim Berakas ‘B’, an inspection was carried out on a foreign citizen who was later arrested for failing to submit original documents. The foreign national was also believed to be hawking from house to house.

At Labu Immigration Control Post, an individual was arrested for not reporting to the immigration officer on duty and not possessing any immigration passes.

In related news, Nurul Nabilah binti Abdullah Merayan @ Michelle Anak Merayan, a 27-year-old Malaysian, was recently sentenced to three months in prison and a BND800 fine in lieu of whipping for entering the country without a valid immigration pass and for not entering the country through a control post.

Her sentence was extended to four months after failing to pay the fine. – Azlan Othman
