Four arrested for stealing cables in Belait

The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) apprehended four male suspects in connection with stealing cables from United National Networks (UNN) on January 13 in Kampong Sungai Duhon in the Belait District.

The suspects, aged 21 to 30, were nabbed by Kuala Belait Police during a routine patrol, when they were attempting to burn the stolen cables.

The suspects will be produced in court in a future date.

Kuala Belait Police District Crime Officer DSP Dennie Adli bin Haji Sulaiman said, “As of recently, the theft of cables has seen an increase in the Belait District area.

“Preventative efforts in this regard are being carried out.”

The RBPF urged the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station. Police reminded that accepting stolen scrap metals is also an offence. – Daniel Lim
