Foreigner arrested in immigration operation

A male foreigner was arrested and brought to the Law Enforcement Division of the Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD) for failing to show valid documents and not working with his registered employer.

He was caught when the officers of the Law Enforcement Division of the INRD of Bandar Seri Begawan conducted operation ‘Tumpas JIPK 76/2022’ targetting a village in Mukim Gadong ‘A’.

The department said violation of an immigration pass is punishable by a BND600 fine.

His work pass will also be cancelled and deported from the country.

Violators’ names can be blacklisted and are no longer allowed to work in the Sultanate.

A person employing an immigration offender can be fined BND3,000 for each immigration offence.

The department will conduct patrols, operations and inspections on information and cooperation from the public and on the information gathered, either privately or with other enforcement agencies. The INRD will continue to enforce the Immigration Act and Regulations, the Passport Act and Regulations, and ensure that they are complied with and track down immigration offenders.

The department is also enforcing the Prevention of People Smuggling Order, 2019 and the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Order, 2019 as well as to track any acti-vity that is against the laws and regulations in the country.
