The Law Enforcement Division at the Labour Department’s Kuala Belait Branch conducted Operasi Siaga 49/2024 recently leading to uncovering five violations.
The violations following raids in Kampong Mumong area were not giving rest days; working past the maximum working hours; not providing leave on public holidays; and not providing annual leave. Employers found guilty of the violations may be fined up to BND1,000 for each offence. The failure to settle the fines will result in the case being brought to court.
The Labour Department reminded employers to monitor employees’ welfare in accordance with the Employment Order, 2009 and refrain from abusing foreign worker licences issued by the authorities.
