The first returning flight of the Malaysian Battalion Contingent (MALBATT) 850-11 for the peacekeeping mission of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) comprising 196 members of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) and 10 members of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) led by Lieutenant Mohammad Iqbal bin Awang Sidik, safely arrived at Subang Airbase in Malaysia yesterday.
Assistant Chief of Staff J3 of the Joint Forces Headquarters, MAF (ACOS J3 JFHQ MAF) Major General Dato’ Tong Veng Leong welcomed their return.
Brunei Darusslam’s Defence Adviser to Malaysia Lieutenant Colonel Rudie Asmawi bin Haji Abidin, senior officers from the MAF and family members of the MALBATT 850-11 contingent were also present.
The parade ceremony began as soon as they landed and started with a general salute from the contingent, followed by the MAF song and speech from ACOS J3 JFHQ MAF. The chanting of ‘Gempur Wira’ ended the parade and concluded with the recitation of the Doa.
The subsequent flight of MALBATT 850-11 comprises 206 personnel from the MAF and eight RBAF personnel will be scheduled to depart from Lebanon to Malaysia on Monday. The members will be stationed at MALBATT Village, Port Dickson until all members of MALBATT 850-11 return to Malaysia.
