UPI – The 2024 Egg Fair in Mexico broke a Guinness World Record when more than 2,000 young people participated in a race while balancing eggs on spoons.
The fair, organised by the Tepatitlán Poultry Farmers Association in Jalisco, featured nearly 2,700 students from a local high school racing 100 metres while balancing eggs on spoons.
Guinness World Records determined that 2,039 of the participants finished the race without violating any rules, earning the title for the largest egg and spoon race.
The previous record of 1,400 people was set in London.
The fair in Jalisco, where 50.4 per cent of all of Mexico’s eggs are produced, also featured other events including an egg hunt, a decorated cart race, a bicycle race and an exhibition featuring 100 different dishes prepared using local eggs.
