Twenty-two children and their families from the Children’s Cancer Foundation (YASKA) had a fun-filled afternoon of creativity and cultural exchange in a special event organised by Progresif Sdn Bhd in collaboration with the Japanese Embassy in Brunei Darussalam recently to mark World Kindness Day and Origami Day.
According to Progresif, World Kindness Day, observed annually on November 13, emphasises the power of small acts of kindness in strengthening communities and fostering a supportive environment. It highlighted how even simple gestures of compassion can create a ripple effect, inspiring others to incorporate kindness into their daily lives.
The event saw an origami workshop, with third secretary at the Japanese Embassy in Brunei Darussalam Ozaki Maria guiding the children through the intricate art of paper folding, teaching them not only the creative techniques behind origami but also imparting lessons in patience, focus and perseverance.
A cultural presentation on the history and significance of origami offered a deeper understanding of its cultural roots and its therapeutic benefits.
Progresif’s Chief Administrative Officer Hakeem Basri said, “At Progresif, we believe in the power of acts of kindness to foster a more compassionate and inclusive world. This event allowed us to share the joy of creativity while promoting values of patience, empathy, and community support.” – James Kon
