Almost 50 players showed their strengths and potential during the national player selection training session at the Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (FABD) field.
The three-day selection focuses on the solidity of the players before being integrated into the national team.
FABD President Haji Feisal bin Haji Eusoff Patail is confident that with the high persistence and precise commitment of players, coaches, officials involved and stakeholders will be able to shape and build a dynamic team able to step forward in the football scene further.
Meanwhile, the presence of former national players participating in training and selection will help the coaches and officials to have more room to make evaluations.
The president also wanted to witness the preparation of the team by holding friendly matches with local teams. “With this openness, I’m sure the national team will be ready for the FIFA ‘Window Friendly’ matches and even for the preparation of matches at the international level,” he explained.
The FABD president further suggested that the national team should be able to focus on dominating the competition with neighbouring Malaysian and Indonesian states such as Sabah, Sarawak and Kalimantan, before moving on to regional and international levels.
FABD Deputy President Haji Mahrub bin Haji Murni was also present to witness the training and selection session. – Azlan Othman
