Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Hafizah Sururul Bolkiah, in a sabda at the Girl Guides Association of Brunei Darussalam’s (PPPBD) annual general meeting (AGM) yesterday, urged the association to explore other fields to increase the number of programmes for its members including utilising technology to empower the younger generation in the current digital era.
Her Royal Highness, the President of the PPPBD, also congratulated the association for its activities last year, including the Share, Learn, Grow international event.
Her Royal Highness also said PPPBD should expand outside of school levels and work with other agencies to aid community and national development.
Her Royal Highness also called for the emphasis of Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) in programmes to inspire and strengthen national values.
The PPPBD president said it is important that the association’s leaders possess leadership skills and integrity since it is a platform to produce girl guides of high calibre and with a vision.
Earlier, Her Royal Highness was welcomed to the meeting at Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Girls Arabic Religious Secondary School by PPPBD Lifelong Vice President Datin Hajah Masni binti Haji Mohd Ali and PPPBD Deputy Chief Commissioner Hajah Viviyanti binti Haji Md Ali.
The meeting began with a welcoming address by Hajah Viviyanti underscoring Her Royal Highness’ wise leadership of the association to enter a new era of beneficial activities for the members and the community.
The deputy chief commissioner said PPPBD is committed to providing full support of Her Royal Highness’ vision for the association to stay ahead of global development wave.
The meeting saw a presentation on the PPPBD Constitution, a report of the association’s activities as well as appointment of chief commissioner and council members for 2024-2029.
PPPBD Chief Commissioner Hajah Siti Hafsah binti Haji Abdul Halim was also present. – Lyna Mohamad
