Event highlights Brunei’s standards for shrimp paste

The Fisheries Department under the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) in collaboration with the National Standards Centre (NSC) under the Ministry of Finance and Economy (MoFE) held a socialisation event for PBD 45:2023 on Brunei’s standard for shrimp paste yesterday. Deputy Permanent Secretary I at the MPRT Haji Mohd Yusree bin Haji Junaidi was the guest of honour.

Fisheries Department Acting Director Hajah Wanidawati binti Haji Tamat, in her welcoming remarks, reiterated the role of the agency in ensuring and understanding on the standards, products, descriptions, essential composition, quality, food additives, hygiene and handling, labelling requirements, method of sampling, examination and analyses.

Deputy Permanent Secretary (Trade and Industry) at the MoFE Mohammad Harris bin Brigadier General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Haji Ibrahim and Director of the Industry and Business Ecosystem Division at the MoFE Allen On Hsien Yung in his capacity as NSC Acting Director were present.

The event was also attended by officials from government agencies, higher education institutions and small-scale seafood processing companies. – Lyna Mohamad
