Enhanced Customs control with cross-border collaboration

The 10th Bilateral Cooperation Meeting between Brunei’s Royal Customs and Excise Department (RCED) and the Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM) took place at the Radisson Hotel in the capital yesterday.

Acting Controller of RCED Muhammad Azizil Hakim bin Haji Brahim and JKDM Deputy Director General of Customs Dato’ Sazali bin Mohamad co-chaired the meeting.

Senior officers from RCED and JKDM convened to address recent developments and challenges within their Customs administrations.

The meeting also focused on shared concerns to enhance collaboration with emphasis on joint initiatives to streamline cross-border trade while ensuring the safety of goods passing through control posts.

The discussions centred on implementing effective controls to combat illicit activities, including smuggling of goods at border crossings and in national waters.
