The sixth annual general meeting (AGM) of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) Brunei Group was held virtually on February 19.
The AGM began with an annual report presentation by last term activities by Chairman of IMechE Brunei Group Ir Haji Hamidon bin Haji Mohd Tahir, followed by the election of new office-bearers for the next two-year term.
Ir Chin Lee Tuck was elected as chairman, Ir Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Modin as vice chairman, Ir Hajah Siah binti Haji Amat as honorary secretary, Ir Vincent Chong as deputy honorary secretary and Ir Haji Abdullah bin Najib as honorary treasurer. Ir Haji Mohd Zain bin Yahya, Amirul bin Dato Seri Laila Jasa Haji Ahmad, Nadzuan bin Narawi, Ir Hajah Norhayati binti Ahmad and Ir Pengiran Shamsuhadi bin Pengiran Indera Wijaya Pengiran Dr Haji Ismail were elected ordinary committee members.
IMechE Brunei Group recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Politeknik Brunei (PB) to establish an IMechE PB Student Chapter. It has since registered around 100 students as affiliate (student) member.
Since the institution’s establishment in 2017 it has a student chapter in Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) as well as an engagement with Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE).
IMechE Brunei Group supports academic excellence awards at UTB and PB for mechanical engineering graduates.
The institution is also assisting UTB in its mechanical engineering degree programme accreditation process.
