Over 30 women convened with their vehicles at the Porsche Centre Brunei yesterday for a convoy drive as part of the International Women Drivers’ Day celebration, aimed to empower the female community to have an active and equal presence within automotive circles.
The drive began at the centre heading to the Abode Resort and Spa in Temburong District.
The event also highlighted Porsche safety features and tips on improving one’s driving skills.
The event began with a safety briefing at the centre, covering topics such as different driving modes on the owners’ cars and features such as Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) for enhanced stability and comfort.
A certified trainer also conducted a defensive driving workshop to encourage greater awareness and anticipation while driving, for a safer and enjoyable experience. The 100-kilometre convoy journey commenced, with the drivers traversing a scenic route to their destination.
Upon arrival, the group enjoyed a calming yoga session, followed by brunch and networking at the resort, before making the journey back to the Brunei-Muara District.
“We affirm our Porsche owners’ passion for driving, regardless of gender,” said Porsche Brunei General Manager Lahiru de Silva.
“The drive today presented opportunities for our Porsche owners to socialise and unwind with like-minded individuals, while also improving our owners’ knowledge of their vehicles and honing their driving skills for the future. We are fully committed to delivering an excellent ownership experience to all Porsche owners, men and women alike,” he said.
The International Women Drivers’ Day celebrates the rise of women celebrating their passion, opinion and experience with cars.
Porsche Brunei will host similar initiatives in the future, to empower and inspire current and future generations of driven females.
