The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) conducted an operation from October 2 to 10 and busted a drug trafficking syndicate led by a 48-year-old local suspect.
During the operation, authorities arrested 18 individuals, including 15 locals and three foreign nationals, suspected of involvement in illegal drug trafficking.
The operation resulted in the seizure of 1,363.38 grammes of Syabu (worth over BND190,000), enough to supply approximately 13,500 drug users; BND1,137 and SGD20 in cash, believed to be drug proceeds; and drug paraphernalia such as digital scales, scissors and small packing
materials. Investigations revealed that the syndicate sourced drugs from a neighbouring country and smuggled them into Brunei by concealing them in spare tyres. Two individuals arrested during the operation are being probed for offences involving the possession of controlled drugs for trafficking. One suspect, found with 1,300.29 grammes of Syabu, could face the death penalty if convicted. – Fadley Faisal
