Drug prevention is vital for society, says NCB director

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) prioritises drug prevention education to ensure that the society is aware of the dangers of drugs.

This was said by NCB Director Dato Paduka Mohd Zalani bin Haji Ismail in his welcoming remarks at a poster competition held in conjunction with the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (IDADAIT).

Through the Preventive Drug Education Division, the NCB has implemented drug prevention education programmes at all school levels in the country, to increase awareness among students on the dangers of drugs.

“Today’s students are the future of the country and will continue the legacy of leadership and transformation of the country. Therefore, I am confident that the cooperation developed like this will encourage students to continue engaging in beneficial activities including drug prevention education programmes and rejecting any negative influences,” said the director.

Meanwhile, upper-secondary student Mohammad Akmal Darwisy bin Kamaluddin of Mahad Islam Brunei and lower-secondary student Tiong Ing Hoe of Seri Mulia Sarjana School were named as the winners in the upper and lower secondary categories of the competition.
