The national under-17 football team concluded their campaign in the 2025 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Under-17 Asian Cup qualification with a 10-0 defeat to Turkmenistan at the Chonburi Stadium in Thailand last weekend.
The latest humbling represents an unwanted record of losing five consecutive matches in the AFC-sanctioned meet by double digits.
The national under-17 team conceded a whopping 32 goals in the last two appearances following a 13-0 loss to India and a record-equaling 19-0 to Thailand.
The under-17 intake during the previous qualifying edition in 2022 have also succumbed to a 14-0 defeat to Uzbekistan and 10-0 to South Korea.
Turkmenistan under-17 forward Suleymannazar Govshudov led the goal rush with a six-goal display.
The already-eliminated Turkmenistan saw Arslan Vepayev add a brace with Hudaynazar Meredov and Veysgeldi Orazdurdyyev also on the score-sheet.
Thailand qualified to the main tournament which is scheduled to be held in Saudi Arabia after defeating India 3-2 in their final Group ‘D’ match.
