    Donations continue across Sultanate

    Nextacloud

    Some 20 families in Kampong Sungai Pandan received donations of household necessities from technology solutions provider Nextacloud under Projek #INFAQ1 recently.

    The donation event was made possible through the collaborative efforts of 14 dedicated Nextacloud representatives.

    They distributed aid packages to members of the community with the help of volunteers from Green Brunei and the Brunei Youth Council.

    Brunei-United States Association

    The Brunei-United States Association (BUSA), in collaboration with Brunei Four Wheel Drive Association (BFWDA) held their Kasih Ramadhan Drive 2024 to 10 underprivileged families residing in Kampong Labi I and Kampong Labi II recently.

    BUSA and BFWDA, with the assistance of Kampong Labi I’s acting village head Hanapi bin Mohd Siput and Kampong Labi II Acting Village Head Muhd Nurazri bin Haji Abdul Mustafah, made their way through rustic roads to deliver everyday necessities including toiletries and Hari Raya clothes, contributed by Findlay (B) Sdn Bhd, BUSA members and public donors.

    Adding to the significance of Kasih Ramadhan was the participation of the United States (US) Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Caryn McClelland; Public Affairs Officer and Deputy Public Affairs Officer at the US Embassy Katherine Ntiamoah and Hannah Doyle.

    “BUSA and BFWDA have cultivated a longstanding collaboration since 2019 that began with donations of everyday necessities which expanded to distributing school supplies and now, Hari Raya preparations. The Kasih Ramadhan initiative embodies the spirit of giving and compassion, bringing joy not only to those receiving donations, but also strengthening collaborations with associations in Brunei.

    “This collaboration exemplifies the power of community and highlights the importance of working together to create positive change,” commented BUSA President Sha.

    Darussalam Motorcycle Association

    Over 150 Darussalam Motorcycle Association (PEMODA) members, orphans and their guardians attended a religious event and iftar at a hotel in Jerudong last Sunday.

    Earlier, PEMODA members took part in a ‘Sungkai Ride’, flagging off at Kampong Beribi towards the hotel with a convoy led by treasurer general Haji Noor Aimee bin Haji Matamit.

    At the hotel, the ceremony began with a mass recitation of Tahlil, followed with a Doa Selamat before proceeding to presenting donations to 28 orphans in Kampong Jerudong, in conjunction with PEMODA’s 28th anniversary celebration.

    The donation was presented by the wives of Kampong Jerudong ‘B’ village head, PEMODA president and members of the association’s highest committee.

    Among those present were Kampong Jerudong ‘B’ Village Head Kamis bin Panjang and PEMODA president Pengiran Haji Redzuan bin Pengiran Haji Ahmad as well as pioneers, former presidents and honorary members of the association. – Lyna Mohamad

    Bakti Dewa School

    Bakti Dewa School recently conducted their annual charity drive, collecting BND2,803 in donations from parents, teachers and staff of the school.

    The funds have been used to purchase essential items including rice and sugar for eight families in the Tutong District.

    The charitable endeavour underscored Bakti Dewa School’s commitment in giving back to the community and supporting those in need. – Rokiah Mahmud

    Berkat Kerjakaras Semua Sanang Cooperative

    The Berkat Kerjakaras Semua Sanang Cooperative (BKSS) presented donations to seven orphans at the executive room of the BKSS building, Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital yesterday.

    BKSS Chairman Haji Md Salleh bin Haji Mohiddin presented the donations.

    Prior to the presentation, a religious ceremony was held featuring the recitation of Tahlil and Doa Arwah. The annual charity event is aimed at easing the burden of orphans in meeting their daily needs ahead of the Hari Raya celebrations. – James Kon

    Royal Brunei Airlines

    Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) in collaboration with Sabre Travel Network Brunei held a donation ceremony and iftar for 32 orphans at Tarindak D’Seni in the heart of the capital.

    RB Chief Executive Officer Captain Sabirin bin Haji Abdul Hamid was the guest of honour at the event organised by the RB Welfare Committee yesterday.

    Captain Sabirin and Sabre Travel Network Brunei General Manager Abdul Halim bin Haji Abdul Rahman presented the donations.

    The event began with the recitation of Tahlil led by Acting Chief Operation Officer of RB Badarudin bin Haji Bagol followed by a welcoming speech from Captain Sabirin.

    Captain Sabirin shared that on March 29, RB will be handing over donations to 15 families from among the RB staff who are in need of assistance.

    He also noted that charitable works have become the norm for the company, extending help and donations to co-workers and orphans among the RB staff.

    “This is the norm that RB and Sabre Travel Networks want to incorporate into the staff culture in the long term, in line with our initiative to develop RB Services’ DNA,” he added.

    “RB hopes to be able to provide these orphans with the opportunity to enjoy the festivities through this humble donation.”

    Takaful Brunei

    Syarikat Takaful Brunei Darussalam Sdn Bhd (Takaful Brunei) and its subsidiaries Takaful Brunei Am (TBA) and Takaful Brunei Keluarga (TBK) recently provided aid to 10 underprivileged families to mark the holy month of Ramadhan through their Jalur Kasih corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.

    Takaful Brunei’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Haji Shahrildin bin Pehin Orang Kaya Lela Utama Dato Paduka Haji Jaya led the visits to families across the Brunei-Muara and Temburong districts to donate daily necessities including canned foods, clothing detergent, cooking ingredients and fragrant rice.

    Each visit concluded with the recitation of Doa Selamat to offer blessings and hope for their burdens to be eased.

    Britain Brunei Business Forum

    The Britain Brunei Business Forum (BBBF) hosted an iftar for 19 orphans registered under Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah as part of its ongoing corporate social responsibility initiative on Monday.

    The annual event provided an opportunity for the orphans to come together and celebrate the holy month of Ramadhan while promoting the values of compassion and social responsibility within the community.

    Each child received stationery, school supplies and Duit raya from sponsors of the event – Laksamana College of Business, International Business-Mate Sdn Bhd and PFH Fire Protection Company Sdn Bhd. BBBF Chair and Chief Executive Officer of Standard Chartered Bank Pengiran Aki Ismasufian bin Pengiran Haji Ibrahim said he was honoured to be part of an event that not only celebrates the traditions of Ramadhan but also embodies the spirit of giving back to the community.

    “It is through such collective efforts, driven by the generosity of our sponsors and the dedication of our executive committee, that we reaffirm our commitment to fostering a society where every individual, regardless of circumstance, feels valued and supported,” he said.

    Emperor’s Court Restaurant

    Some BND4,000 in donations were collected during the Emperor’s Court Restaurant’s seventh ‘Dine and Donate Charity Sungkai’ event at the Emperor’s Court in Manggis Mall yesterday.

    The donations were collected through sales and another BND1,000 contributed by the restaurant, bringing the total fund to BND5,000.

    All proceeds from the sale of Sungkai Dome were donated to the Children’s Cancer Foundation (YASKA).

    Emperor’s Court Assistant Manager Addool presented the donation while YASKA was represented by its president Tsara’Nawwarah Abdullah Chen.

    The charity event was part of the restaurant’s corporate social responsibility in supporting YASKA children as well as to foster a caring and loving community. – Lyna Mohamad
