Dikir groups from Muhammad Jamalul Alam Mosque in Kuala Belait and Haji Abdul Azim Mosque in Kampong Luagan Dudok claimed the top spots in the men’s and women’s categories for the nationwide Dikir Syarafil Anam competition on November 20.
The competition, organised by the Mosque Affairs Department through the Imarah Division in collaboration with Muhammad Jamalul Alam Mosque takmir committee, was to mark the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) for 1446 Hijrah.
A total of 48 dikir groups competed in the competition, with 21 competing in the men’s category while 27 competed in the women’s category.
Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohd Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan attended the competition as the guest of honour. In the final round, Muhammad Jamalul Alam Mosque Kuala Belait took first place in the men’s category with a total score of 94.9 per cent, which was the highest among all the competing groups.
This was followed by Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque in Kampong Katimahar and Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Mosque in Kampong Rimba placed second and third.
Meanwhile, the women’s category saw Haji Abdul Azim Mosque in Kampong Luagan Dudok placing first with a score of 93.5 per cent, followed by Kampong Mentiri Mosque and Az Zakireen Mosque in RPN Kampong Meragang in second and third place. – Daniel Lim
