The Islamic Studies Department (JPI) celebrated the conclusion of the Skim Tilawah Al-Quran Remaja (STAR) for the 2023-2024 academic session with a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony at the surau of Pengiran Anak Puteri Masna Religious School on Sunday.
The ceremony, marking the completion of studies for 52 second-year students, commenced with the mass recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, led by JPI Acting Director Hajah Mariana binti Haji Jamil, the guest of honour.
This was followed by recitations of selected surahs by the Khatam participants. Muhammad Nurhidayatullah Al-Mu’min bin Rosnan led the recitation of Doa Khatam.
The guest of honour presented Khatam certificates and awards to outstanding students. STAR instructor Muhammad Nur Asymawi bin Asli recited Doa Selamat.
Launched in 1997, the STAR programme is designed to nurture students with exceptional Al-Quran reading skills, preparing them to become the next generation of qari and qariah for the nation.
It aligns with the national aspiration to cultivate an Al-Quran-literate society and embed recitation as a daily practice and cultural norm. – Fadley Faisal
