His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office received in audience the visiting World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Director for the Western Pacific Dr Saia Ma’u Piukala at Qashr Al-Meezaan yesterday.
The regional director and the delegation are on a working visit in the country from June 11 to 13.
Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar and Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health (MoH) Haji Maswadi bin Haji Mohsin were present.
Meanwhile, Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham received a courtesy call from Dr Saia Ma’u Piukala at the MoH building yesterday.
The minister and the delegation discussed strengthening the national and regional health system, universal health care and climate change.
During his working visit to the Sultanate, Dr Saia Ma’u Piukala hopes to work with the MoH to focus on universal health care through visits to facilities under the MoH, discussion sessions with experts, sharing of strategic plans and priorities of the MoH with WHO, as well as the achievements and challenges faced by the MoH. – James Kon
