The winners were awarded during a ceremony at Ruang Hall, Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex yesterday, alongside the launch of the Pre-Vocational Programme Curriculum Book (BKPPV 2024).
Some eight schools progressed to the final stage of the cooking competition on November 9, where students prepared three types of food and one drink, namely savoury (pastry-rubbing method), soft cookies, buko and fruit juice. The final stage featured culinary teachers from the Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) and the executive sous chef from The Rizqun International Hotel as the judges.
The bootcamp, organised in collaboration with the Entrepreneurship Innovation Centre (EIC) at the MoE, comprised 12 secondary schools in the pre-vocational programme and six primary schools in the special education programme. It aimed to expose students to develop entrepreneurial and innovation skills.
Students also had the opportunity to showcase their abilities, creativity, innovation, and their talents in producing the best products.
The launch of the BKPPV aims to guide special education teachers in pre-vocational programmes. The publication is also aligned with the Strategic Goals of the MoE and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 prioritising quality, inclusive, and equitable education for all.
Permanent Secretary (Core Education) at the MoE Dr Shamsiah Zuraini Kanchanawati binti Haji Tajuddin, the guest of honour, presented prizes to the winners. – James Kon
