The Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) on Friday released a statement in response to a video that recently circulated, featuring several of its students in a controversial portrayal.
In the 17-second video, four individuals were observed standing on the sidestep of a moving four-wheel-drive vehicle, with one of them at the wheel. During this display, the group brandished imitation firearms.
IBTE has acknowledged the insensitivity of the content and extended an apology via their official Instagram account. They expressed deep regret for the incident and conveyed that they take the matter seriously.
IBTE also said that the parties involved have been educated about the inappropriateness of their actions, and the students themselves deeply regret their behavior.
Furthermore, IBTE has emphasised that necessary actions have been taken against those involved, and they are committed to ensuring that such misconduct does not recur. The institution has also underscored that it does not endorse or accept such behavior and is actively cooperating with relevant authorities.
In a call for cooperation from the public, IBTE has urged individuals not to share the video or related images on any platforms, as this can fuel further speculation and negativity.
IBTE’s statement concludes by highlighting their ongoing dedication to creating a positive learning environment where values and morals play an integral role in the development of their students.
