    Completion of special needs programme celebrated

    The Ministry of Education, through the Department of Special Education, held a certificate presentation for pre-vocational programme students at a hotel yesterday.

    Shell LiveWire Brunei Chairman Mohammad Erwan bin Haji Mohammad Said was the guest of honour.

    The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat, followed by a welcoming speech from Acting Head of the Department of Special Education Eddy Fazlin bin  aji Amdan.

    The ceremony continued with the presentation of certificates to 78 students who completed the pre-vocational programme and 21 teachers have been officially appointed as special education needs support educators (SENSE).

    Certificates were also presented to 12 companies involved in the work placement of students as well as a certificate to retired special education teacher Hajah Maimunah binti Haji Pudin.

    The pre-vocational programme is a five-year course catering to students with special needs in government secondary schools.

    It focuses on providing tailored learning to develop including functional academics, social and communication skills and self-management.

    The ceremony also showcased handcraft products, food, beverages and crops produced by students from 15 secondary schools.
