Reza Ramadhani bin Ismajaya emerged as the winner in the male category, while Zuhrina Zafeerah binti Haji Zaini won the female category at the final of a memorisation of selected Surah competition for sixth form centres and colleges nationwide at the Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah yesterday.
Both winners represented Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah College (MDPMAMB).
Meanwhile, Muhammad Darwisy Afiq bin Jalani from the Tutong Sixth Form Centre was placed second and Mohd Hafiz Helman bin Muhd Huzaimi came in third place in the male category.
Nur Hessa Mahrunissa binti Bambang Isyanto from Sengkurong Sixth Form Centre and Siti Nur Darwisah binti Sabli from MDPMAMB were first and second runners-up.
Director of Department of Schools at the Ministry of Education Hajah Marina Chek binti Bujang presented the prizes to the winners.
The competition aimed to glorify the memorisation of Al-Quran as a daily practice among students. – Rokiah Mahmud
