International School Brunei (ISB) celebrated the excellent achievements of its Year 11 graduates from the cohort of 2023 in the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) with a ceremony at ISB’s state-of-the-art theatre on Wednesday.
Part of the Year 11 graduating Class of 2023 was Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Muda ‘Abdul Muntaqim ibni Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Paduka Seri Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah.
The celebration of IGCSE achievement ceremony saw the presentation of certificates and awards.
The Year 11 cohort of 2023 at ISB made the school proud with their IGCSE results, having achieved above the United Kingdom average in terms of A*-C and A*-A grades. The students progressed to the next chapter of their educational journey, with the majority now undertaking the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma programme.
ISB’s Executive Principal and Chief Executive Officer Dominic Morley along with Year 11 tutors presented the IGCSE certificates.
Morley said, “The IGCSE qualifications are challenging and provide a strong foundation for progressing to the IB, and I am pleased to say that more Year 11 students progressed to the IB in Year 12 than ever before.
“At ISB, everyone excels. The achievements of our IGCSE graduates here this evening demonstrate just that. Congratulations to all of you,” he added.
The proceedings also saw speeches from the school’s Head Boy Bazil Haji Mohd Albadii and Head Girl Syasya Shayfol, who both reflected on their IGCSE journeys and congratulated their peers.
In addition, ISB’s Head of Secondary Dr Peter Jones presented the Highest Progress and Attainment Awards. The Highest Progress accolades recognise students whose results demonstrate significant progress, while the Attainment Awards are presented to students who achieve the highest academic results.
“Our Year 11 Class of 2023 did extremely well in their IGCSEs, especially considering the challenges that they went through related to COVID and school closures. I congratulate all the students for their achievements over the summer. We look forward to seeing them make even more progress in our IB Diploma programme,” said Dr Jones.
Among the event’s highlights were musical performances by students from the graduating cohort.
