Team 031 was named the winner of the Brunei History Challenge Run 2024, held yesterday in the capital.
The team, comprising Md Najmuddin bin Mohamad, Md Rusydi bin Haji Yusly and Mohd Nor Hafiz bin Haji Abdul Wahab, received BND900 in cash prize.
Team 035 – Md Danny bin Aussry, Mastani bin Md Yussop and Lau Soon Hau – took second place and received BND600, while Team 002 – Md Izzat bin Haji Md Azmi, Md Hanif bin Haji Awang Jaafar and Abdul Qawi bin Haji Zulkipli – came in third place and took home BND400.
The top three teams also received certificates, medals and a month’s free gym membership.
The team placed fourth received BND200 while teams from fifth to 10th place received BND100.
The Brunei History Centre (PSB) organised the competition with cooperation from Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei (TAIB) and Institute of Brunei Technical Education, as well as support from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS).
Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Chong Chin Yee officiated the run that attracted the participation of 42 teams.
The event, held for the third time since 2019, also featured lucky draws, music performances from Izz Ibrahim and Shom’D, an e-sport competition, car displays by Sahabat Mercedes Benz Darussalam Club, go-karts and an inflatable bouncer for children.
Permanent Secretary (Culture) at the MCYS Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Culture) at the MCYS Dr Siti Norkhalbi binti Haji Wahsalfelah, Acting PSB Head Mohammad Faisal bin Haji Mat Salleh and Perbadanan TAIB Managing Director Datin Hajah Hasnah binti Haji Ibrahim were also present. – James Kon
