Cambodian mosque receives Sultanate’s Mushaf Al-Quran

Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman and spouse visited Al- A’la Prek Pa Mosque in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on Thursday to distribute the Brunei Darussalam’s Mushaf Al-Quran.

This reflects the concern towards the welfare of Muslims in Cambodia in increasing their pious act, especially during Ramadhan and to strengthen ties with congregants and Muslims in Prek Pra.

Al-A’la mosque committee members led by Haji Dahlane bin Yousof greeted Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin on arrival.

He later toured the mosque, located at Chbar Ampov, some five kilometres from Phnom Penh.

The mosque is built on waqaf land.

Initially, the mosque’s walls and pillars were made of wood while the roof had tiles. The mosque was rebuilt to improve the structure and accommodate more congregants in the Chbar Ampov district where the number of Muslims has reached 978 families equivalent to 5,033 people.

In addition to performing the obligatory daily prayers and Friday prayers, Al-A’la mosque is also used for activities, gatherings, lectures and religious lectures for the local Muslim community and those visiting Cambodia from overseas. – Azlan Othman
