First and foremost, kudos to the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports for inaugurating the new Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium Concourse indoor running track.
As a casual runner, I find this development incredibly pleasing, as it provides runners like me with a safe, convenient, and weather-proof venue for our runs.
However, I am somewhat disappointed with the current opening hours on weekdays, which are limited to 4.30pm to 6pm and 7pm to 10pm.
As a retiree, I find the morning hours during the weekdays to be more suitable for running, especially when the rest of the household is occupied with work or school.
While I usually enjoy running in parks or recreational areas, the availability of such a conducive indoor running space at the Concourse is particularly appealing – especially given the wet weather we’ve been experiencing lately.
Only runners can truly understand the frustration of a cancelled run due to bad weather.
I sincerely hope the management will consider extending the facility’s operating hours to include mornings on weekdays, making it more accessible to a broader range of users, including retirees like myself.
