Seeing the recent job fair and some job vacancies posted, it is disheartening to see that companies often set age limits, effectively excluding a significant portion of the workforce.
I am in my 30s, and this practice of age discrimination puts me in a very difficult position as I consider a career change aligned with my personal and professional growth.
For someone who has been searching for a more stable job for longer than anticipated, it dampens one’s spirit and eagerness to pursue a career change. Having worked in the private sector for 10 years, I possess a wealth of experience, skills, and maturity that could be invaluable to any organisation.
The desire for professional growth should be encouraged, not hindered. By limiting the pool of potential candidates based on age, employers are missing out on talented, motivated, and experienced individuals who could contribute significantly to their organisations. Age should not be a barrier to employment. Everyone deserves equal job opportunities.
