Izah Azahari

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam joined a cake-cutting ceremony to mark Royal Brunei Armed Forces’ (RBAF) 62nd anniversary yesterday.

The cake was carefully designed with each layer, colour and decoration symbolising different themes.

The first layer represented RBAF’s core values – piety, loyalty, courage, and professionalism – aimed at achieving its objectives and duty of preserving the sovereignty of the monarch, religion and country.

The hexagonal second and third layers symbolised RBAF’s steadfastness under His Majesty’s leadership.

Surrounding the second layer were RBAF and military unit logos representing the spirit of nationalism, loyalty, friendship and readiness to defend Brunei’s sovereignty.

The cake’s yellow colour symbolised the monarchy and magnificence of the government under His Majesty’s leadership. White, red, and black stripes reflected the colours of the national flag as well as colours of the RBAF regiments.

The gold-coloured flower motifs represented the identity, tradition and culture of the Malay community while the anniversary celebration logo adorning the third layer featured Jawi script reflecting RBAF’s piety and faith.

His Majesty also received a pesambah of a simulator set. It was designed to provide a virtual experience of flying an aircraft with control panels, multiple displays and seating.

The simulator can be used for practical flight training in different scenarios and switched between a Boeing aircraft and a helicopter.

The contribution from all RBAF members reflected the military leadership’s sensitivity to current conditions by leveraging technology to enhance the quality of training and operations.

This can elevate RBAF’s capabilities to global standards and the readiness to defend Brunei’s sovereignty and well-being.
