Forty Kampong Lambak Youth Association (PERBEKAL) members led by its president, Pengiran Haji Nordin bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud paid an official visit to Bintulu, Sarawak in Malaysia during the recent school holiday break.
The visit, from September 1 to 3 saw association members welcomed by the Malaysian Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneurs Development (MYSED) in Bintulu.
The visit was aimed at gaining experience in activities involving the local community while strengthening ties. The visit also included interactions with youth, youth leaders, entrepreneurs and non-governmental organisations, a visit to Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) where they were welcomed by principal cum head of student affairs Dr Kamil Latif and senior assistant registrar Rosidah Basir.
A welcoming dinner was also hosted by Chairman of the Small Entrepreneurs Association Bintulu (PUKB) Pemanca Pengiran Haji Merais bin Pengiran Haji Ismail at his residence.
The group also participated in traditional archery at Assyakirin Mosque, where a national archery competition took place.
Selected Bintulu entrepreneurs led by founder of Mohanie Family Enterprise Cik Razuna Kiprawi, welcomed the group to the Kampong Assyakirin Single Mothers Association Corporative at the residence of its deputy chairperson Aisah Peri.
The visitors were also welcomed by Village Head Pengiran Haji Hamdan bin Pengiran Haji Kerta to a get-together with MYSED members at Dewan Suarah Bintulu.
The group also had an aerobics and sports fiesta with the Drug Prevention Association Malaysia (PEMADAM), attended by bumiputera entrepreneurs and Bintulu welfare volunteers.
At the end of the visit, the group handed over a donation under the PERBEKAL Charity Programme in the form of clothing, yaasiin and mosque and religious hall equipment to MYSED officer Encik Kaderi bin Haji Yusof. – Lyna Mohamad
