The High Commission of India in Brunei Darussalam organised a business event titled ‘Promotion of Investment, Trade, Tourism of Tamil Nadu and Kerala’, in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of India-Brunei Darussalam diplomatic relations, on March 8 at the India House.
Drawing some 60 attendees, the symposium under the State Facilitation Abroad initiative aimed to deepen economic ties and explore avenues for trade expansion and investment cooperation between the Indian states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala and the Sultanate.
High Commissioner of India to Brunei Darussalam Alok Amitabh Dimri underscored the importance India places on its relationship with Brunei Darussalam, highlighting the potential for growth and collaboration.
Meanwhile, Head of Chancery SDK Menon’s presentation on the ‘One District One Product’ initiative focused on the unique strengths and products of individual districts, which can lead to more targeted and effective economic development strategies.
By showcasing the cultural products of Tamil Nadu and Kerala, the event also emphasised the role of cultural diplomacy in strengthening bilateral relations. Cultural performances and the exhibition of cultural products of Tamil Nadu and Kerala brought from India provided experiences of the rich heritage of the Indian States to the attendees.
The handover of a mural painting and the involvement of artists, including Archana Anil, Shivani Santhosh, and Manju, illustrated the deep cultural connections that can complement economic ties.
