Villagers of Kampong Serdang, Mukim Kota Batu on Sunday welcomed a new addition to its recreational offerings as the Bukit Kamser Recreational Park was officially launched.

Permanent Secretary (Safety and Welfare) of Home Affairs Salminan bin Haji Burut, and LegCo member Haji Daud bin Jihan inaugurated the event.

Formerly known as Bukit Kampong Serdang, the park has been a cherished spot maintained by the villagers since its inception in 2012, serving as a testament to their dedication and communal spirit. With its rebranding and official launch, the park aims to not only provide a sanctuary for leisure but also serve as a hub for outdoor activities and events.

Head of Sungai Besar, Serdang, and Sungai Belukut villages Lieutenant Colonel Haji Awang Zaini bin Haji Awang Damit expressed the primary objectives behind the park’s launch. He emphasised the importance of community involvement in its maintenance and highlighted the park’s potential to host prestigious hiking competitions, drawing participants from near and far.

In addition to its role as a recreational destination, the park is poised to become a hotspot for hiking enthusiasts and nature lovers. With its strategic location and scenic trails, it offers an ideal setting for hosting hiking competitions and promoting a healthy lifestyle.

Attendees had the opportunity to explore the park’s amenities and partake in various recreational activities. The occasion also witnessed the presentation of prizes to the winners of the Kamser Climbathon, a testament to the park’s potential as a venue for sporting events and community gatherings. – JAMES KON
