The Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) and Darussalam Enterprise (DARe) are participating in the 20th China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO), an international event aimed at promoting the ASEAN-China Free Trade Area (ACFTA).
The business-to-business and business-to-consumer event, held at the Nanning International Convention and Exhibition Centre, began yesterday and ends tomorrow.
At the expo, BEDB’s booth promoted Brunei Darussalam as a prospective place for foreign direct investment (FDI) and the opportunities in the country’s Halal Certification.
DARe’s booth at CAEXPO focused on promoting the agency’s industrial sites and showcasing Bruneian-made products that have the potential to penetrate the international markets. A number of Bruneian companies are also participating in the event.
Yesterday, the 20th CAEXPO was officiated by Chinese Premier Li Qiang.
Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid attended the ceremony.
The minister also had a bilateral meeting with Chairman of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Lan Tianli.
The two sides discuss the expansion of economic and trade investment, industrial cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between the Sultanate and Guangxi, especially with the upgraded memorandum of understanding of the 3rd Brunei-Guangxi Economic Corridor (BGEC) signed in February 2023 as well as the International Land-Sea Trade Corridor.
The participation of BEDB and DARe in CAEXPO also aligns with the BGEC.
The BGEC has opened up opportunities for collaboration between Brunei and Guangxi, spanning various sectors, including priorities identified within the Brunei Darussalam Economic Blueprint, as well as emerging areas such as digital economy, clean energy and cultural tourism.
The Brunei delegation also participated in CAEXPO Roundtable Meeting on Investment Cooperation and the CAEXPO Promotion Conference on ASEAN Industrial Parks and Projects Matchmaking Meeting.
